He had his butt out in Game of Thrones, he had his butt out in Bodyguard, and given the subject matter one would bet that there will be some butt-related action in Rocketman.
However, given the family-friendly nature of Marvel Studios, we may be about to see Richard Madden with his pants well and truly on. Variety is reporting he is in talks with Marvel to join The Eternals, taking on the key role of Ikaris.
Who Dis?
Ikaris was born over 20,000 years ago in Polaria, in the area now known as Siberia. He is the son of the Eternals Virako and Tulayn. His real birth name is unknown. His powers include superhuman strength, agility, flight and the ability to teleport. Handy!
Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, the comic starts millions of years in the past. Cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans to create super-powered individuals known as the Eternals. They also created the villains, called Deviants.
The two groups fight through history, including against the Norse deities so a cross-over opportunity could be here. Eventually, they left Earth to explore the stars.
Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani are also on board.
Chloe Zhao (The Rider) is directing. The script was written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. Shooting starts this coming summer.
