What About Hudson And Aykroyd?
When Jason Reitman announced that he’d be returning to the Ghostbusters franchise way back in January, people clearly wanted to know if the original living actors from the original were coming back too.
A sour taste had been left by a bunch of dummies that sullied the Ghostbusters brand a few years ago, and some fear the taste is too bad to wash away.
Reitman‘s Ghostbusters will be a sequel to the original 1984 movie, and we don’t yet know if the original characters will return. But it seems Murray is open to the idea:
“I was in reboot just because they asked me, and I knew if I said no, I was saying I didn’t support that movie. I felt like, OK, I’m going to support them because I support them as people. So I did that one and I would do this next one.”
“This franchise paid for my son’s college. We made this thing. We are the caretakers of it. It’s a great thing and it was a really fun movie to make. It’s a real movie with some really funny stuff in it.”
Murray also waxed nostalgically:
“They’re wonderful people. Danny [Aykroyd], Ernie [Hudson], Harold [Ramis], Rick Moranis, Annie Potts — they’re some of the coolest people and they had real careers. They treat people well. They really understand what it is to be a movie actor. It’s a complete collaboration.”
There’s still no word if any of these guys are involved, both Aykroyd and Hudson have stated they’re waiting for the call.
Murray’s response is surprising because he’d been actively opposed to participating in another Ghostbusters movie for decades. Of course, he had a cameo in Paul Feig’s 2016 SJW mess, so it’s not like a complete change in tune.
Filming on Reitman’s film is said to begin this summer, a sequel to the original Ghostbusters that will not be acknowledging the events of Feig’s offensive parody movie.

Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, IT), McKenna Grace (Captain Marvel) and Carrie Coon (Widows) are all attached to star, playing the family at the centre of the film.
Reitman co-wrote the script with Gil Kenan.
Ghostbusters will return to theaters on July 10, 2020.
