An ever present member of The Avengers but always the guest star, never the lead star.

However it looks like things may be about to change for Black Widow.

Reports coming out of such wildly differing sources, such as Vanity Fair and the UK’s Daily Mail, are reporting that Johansson is looking at a big pay day.  With Marvel finally making noises that they are ready to push the button on her stand alone movie, it could mean a $25 million payday for the Black Widow star.  This could possibly rise by another $6 million in bonuses, depending on box office.

That means her pay for the one film will stand at $31 million and send her to the top of the female Hollywood pay tree.

Jac Schaeffer was hired to write the screenplay with Johansson said to be working closely on tone and story.  She is said to be very highly regarded at Marvel so to brass is very supportive to get this movie into theatres in 2020.

The UK Daily Mail quotes the ubiquitous insider who says:

“Scarlett will get a huge pay day for the Black Widow film, which Disney believes could eclipse Wonder Woman in terms of a female-led superhero film’s revenue. She has been a lucky charm for the studio in all their films, and brings her A-game during each performance. Scarlett is adored by Disney’s top brass and is a real team player.

This stand-alone movie is out there for them, but they feel it can make history. The wages are high, but nothing she doesn’t deserve given her track record as this character…Her agents have pushed through the revenue bonus payment. If it makes over $900 million at the box office then she will get another $6 million. The script is being written and the hopes are to have the stand-alone film in cinemas by summer 2020.”

So there you have it — as long as the money is rights we’re going to see Scarlett in tights.
