The Battle Is On

Cobra-Kai was the best show in 2018, no question.

The show’s creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald delivered a sequel franchise that was clearly handled with love and care.

The YouTube Premium series catches up with the lives of Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (Billy Zabka) 30 odd years after the events of the original Karate Kid movies.

The synopsis for season 2 reads:

“What was once a personal feud between Daniel and Johnny escalates beyond their differences to engulf their students, who as teenagers, are already challenged to figure out who they are and who they want to be. Which path will they follow – Cobra Kai or Miyagi-Do?”

Season 1 saw Lawrence reopening the Cobra-Kai dojo he trained under in the 80s, teaching a new generation of kids karate.

Childhood rival LaRusso comes back into his life as he struggles with being a good father and role model to his children without the guidance of his old mentor Mr. Miyagi, eventually pitting the two men against each other once more.

Cobra-Kai also stars Courtney Henggeler as Amanda LaRusso, Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz, Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso and Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene.

There’s still been no official word if Martin Kove will be returning, especially after last season’s cliffhanger, but that does look like him in the trailer and he did tweet this in January:

And there’s still nothing been confirmed about Elisabeth Shue’s involvement, but we remain patient.

We’ve not long to wait either as Cobra-Kai season 2 premieres April 24 on YouTube Premium.
