All nine Star Wars movies in what is being called the ‘Skywalker Saga‘ will soon be available for purchase.
Wait a minute didn’t Christmas just end?
Not for whoever remains of this fanbase.
Though few details are available the set will reportedly include all nine films in the saga across twenty-seven discs in a specially designed box. All the discs will be encased in pages of a book showcasing concept art from the various movies.
Break It Down
That’s three discs per film and since this is a 4K set that should account for nine of the discs.
We can safely assume another nine will be Blu-Rays which leaves nine for special features.
At this point it seems those hoping for original theatrical versions of the original trilogy will be out of luck because hey, “forget you, loyal fanboy,” right?
Cumulative Collections are Good?
It all depends on who this sort of collection appeals to these days.
Star Wars set will be following in the wake of Game of Thrones releasing their complete set which puts all eight seasons across 33 discs, a ‘Hand of the King’ Pin, the small booklet of artwork and a thank you letter for $200.00.
And Marvels 4K ‘Infinity Saga‘ which include all 23 movies, a lithograph from concept artist Matt Ferguson, a letter from the Kevin Feige–which may actually be signed by him– and an exclusive bonus disk with deleted and extended scenes for a steep $550.00.
The nine movie Star Wars set will fall between the two in price point if not quality at $250.00.
Shop Wisely
Usually, these kinds of sets include an exclusive bonus that helps justify the price but not in this case. All that seems to be new on offer here is that both the Original and Prequel Trilogies will be available in 4K for the first time. Which is nice but also a bit ambitious or dumb considering how many people have 4K TVs and or players compared to HD TVs and Blu-Ray players.
All eight previously-released films are available for less than what averages out to be $28.00 per unit.
No release date is set but it is likely to be available around March 31st, 2020.
