Fresh From Jojo Rabbit

Fresh from directing Jojo Rabbit, and thrusting Archie Yates upon all of the unwilling and uninterested among us, Taika Waititi, has dropped some information about the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder.

Oh yeah. Let’s get nuts!

From the trades:

The next Thor film I’m doing, basically, we’re sort of launching ourselves again on this an adventure film, really. That was the thing really that I loved about doing Ragnarok was it felt like we were just putting Thor on a really cool adventure. There’s always like new things to see and do, and this one, I think we’re gonna double down a lot on that and have it bigger and bolder and brighter. There’s just gonna be some really crazy stuff in the film.
“There’s just gonna be some really crazy stuff in the film.”

Well…ok…

We Already Live in “Crazy” Times

Natalie Portman is going to be swinging the Hammer, and there’s also going to be a return to Fat Thor, and there is little word on how Waititi plans on dealing with the Guardians of the Galaxy, who—if memory serves—were giving Thor a ride at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame.

Wild times. Wild times.

“Really crazy” stuff indeed.

What Are We To Make of All of This?

Nothing.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to drop on November 5, 2021, so anything a director like Waititi says is probably just fodder for the hardcore MCU fans to keep their interest up.

Fat times as well…

But, he’s also proven to be a moneymaker on one Thor film, $853 million dollars worldwide on Thor: Ragnarok against a $180 million dollar budget, so I guess he’s earned the right to say what he wants.
