Joss Whedon was given the keys to Batgirl following a replacement and salvage attempt on Justice League. He left earlier in the year after “…failing to come up with a story…” and a vague whiff of some personal issues in a post Weinstein world.
But fear not, frantic female superhero fans. Batgirl lives!
Christina Hodson, writer of Unforgettable and the Transformers spin-off Bumblebee, is writing a new script which will follow the Barbra Gordon, daughter of Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon.
Hodson also helped develop a feature project based on the all-female group Birds of Prey. No word yet on how Batgirl may fit into plans for the wider Birds of Prey, or the DCEU in the wake of Justice League.
