Ben Affleck Still Attached As Producer

Things are progressing with The Batman movie as it’s been announced filming will begin in Spring 2019.

The movie has had its troubles and been besieged with rumours ever since Ben Affleck stepped back as director. Though Affleck being a producer (note – not executive producer) is not confirmation that he’s going to star in the film, we know that he’s still involved.

Affleck and Geoff Johns were the original writers of The Batman solo film, announced in April 2016 following months of rumours. However, their script was scrapped after Matt Reeves succeeded Affleck as director in February 2017. Reeves is the only person with a writer credit. An earlier rumour had reported that Mark Bomback may have been tapped to write The Batman, but it looks like it was just a rumour and nothing more.

Reeves did rubbish reports that The Batman is based on Year One, the seminal DC comics storyline by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli.
Year One is one of the many comic books that I love. We are definitely not doing Year One.”

Year One off limits for now?

The burning question still remains unanswered as we wait to find out who will don the cape and cowl of The Dark Knight in the solo movie.

No release date from DC has been set for The Batman, but it’s a good guess that it could come out 2020.
