True Detective’s Fukunaga Is The Preferred Choice
The director for the next James Bond installment has finally been selected.
Cary Fukunaga (Beasts of No Nation, True Detective) replaces Danny Boyle, who exited the project over differences with producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson and returning star Daniel Craig.
Fukunaga recently directed Netflix’s dark comedy Maniac, starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill.
Based on the writings of Ian Fleming, UK spy 007 will be portrayed one final time by Craig.
Broccoli and Wilson said on Twitter:
“We are delighted to be working with Cary. His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure," said Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. (2/2)

It had been speculated that American Animals director S.J. Clarkson, who has been chosen to direct the next installment in the Star Trek franchise, or Yann Demange (White Boy Rick) had been the preferred candidates.
Fukunaga will now follow the footsteps of predecessor’s Sam Mendes, Guy Hamilton, Terence Young and Marc Forster who have all directed installments in the 007 franchise.
This announcement would suggest that production is marching on at full steam to the original, anticipated release date of 14th February 2020.
Are we content with this choice? I gave up caring about Commander Bond when Brosnan took the role.
