“We Have A Job To Do. Are You Ready?”

20th Century Fox has dropped the first trailer for Brad Pitt’s sci-fi thriller, Ad Astra, due out in theaters on September 20th.

The new trailer introduces Pitt as astronaut Roy McBride, who is assigned to find out what happened to the classified mission that caused the disappearance of his father, Clifford McBride (Tommy Lee Jones), years ago, who in turn has been doing dangerously strange experiments in space.

I believe there is also a shootout on the moon!

Ad Astra had been scheduled for release a couple of months ago, but now, James Gray’s movie has been bumped again and won’t be released until the end of the year. This is the second time the movie has been stalled, as January was the first date given for release by 20th Century Fox.

Apparently, all these delays are down to Gray not leaving the editing room.

Here’s the trailer:

Here’s the synopsis:

“Astronaut Roy McBride (Pitt) travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.”

Pitt produced the film through his Plan B production company, and the film was written by Gray and Ethan Gross. Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler and Donald Sutherland also star.

Ad Astra is set for a September 20 release.
