Today The People’s Commissariat For Education the makers of the Bumble dating app(a female empowering tinder type thing) announced that they would provide $125,000.00 to finance ONLY female-driven feature films.

Wanting to make sure that the film industry is properly and publicly shamed and is forced to be diverse and all-inclusive, Bumble will award 5 female filmmakers $25,000.00 each to create a film.

Sayeth the Hollywood Reporter:

The five winners will embody the values of “female empowerment, equality and kindness”

So I guess “Female Kindness” only includes other females?

Yes, it does! Because there is a catch to getting that money. You see all these films must be:

created by an all-female creative team of writers, directors and producers.

So five films written, directed, edited and produced only by women. The mind boggles at what they will come up with:

In 3D!

Or how about?

But She Wasn’t!

I kid.

Listen, if a segment of the population feels they are underrepresented in the entertainment industry, then by all means, they are free to start their own production companies and make the kind of films that they have decided that part of the population should see.

But please, don’t stand there yelling and protesting that there is no diversity in the entertainment industry whilst simultaneously collecting a paycheck and then turning around and explicitly implementing the very same policies you are railing against.

Now we could very easily get into a back a forth debate about gender representation and pay against the % of females vs males in the workforce.

The same age-old argument that men do this and women do that. But that’s a debate that will never end and furthermore those numbers and opinions and facts are all there online for all to research.

And that’s not what peaked my interest in this article anyway. It was something else. There was one small sentence that stood out, flashing a bright October red, that I felt is the real motive behind all of the entertainment politics and propaganda:

“women comprised ONLY 18 PERCENT of directors, writers, producers, executive producers, editors and cinematographers working on 2017’s 250 top-grossing films”

The 250 Top-Grossing Films?

So, it’s not the % of women in the entertainment and media industry as a whole that’s a problem, mind you. It just in the part of the industry that consistently brings in the big bucks.

Because if you expand that number if you take the 700 top grossing films you instead get:

Overall, women comprised 20% of all directors, writers, producers, executive producers, editors, and cinematographers. By role, women accounted for 27% of producers, 21% of executive producers, 18% of editors, 13% of directors, 13% of writers, and 9% of cinematographers.

And if you just keep broadening those numbers, 1000 films, 5000 films, if you take the whole bloody worldwide entertainment industry, well that % keeps going up obviously and the argument keeps getting weaker and more illogical.

That’s because it not about diversity or feminism or #whatever.

This is about money.

What we have a % of the population that is being manipulated into feeling they are owed more than they have. That they are not being compensated fairly and proportionally.

Is It True?

Well, it’s not my place to say. I am not a female cinematographer.

But I will unequivocally state that pushing an agenda that seeks to redistribute wealth to the oppressed by antagonizing the supposed guilt and privilege of the middle-class to take away the means of production is straight up Communism. A softer, gentler kind of Communism sure, but still as red as a baboons butt.

And being dragged to distraction with semantics about hurt feelings and cultural politics is nothing but a ploy by the media to undermine our economic and political structure in an effort to bring down all of Western civilization!

So really, if you are using the Bumble dating app, it’s going to be your fault when we all end up in the gulag.
