Once And Future Bond?

In the past, he has been discussed as a future 007.  His chance may have passed him by now.  He was busy with X-Men and Daniel Craig was filling the tux.  Clearly, Michael Fassbender hasn’t scratched that espionage itch.  The Alien: Covenant and Steve Jobs actor will both star in and produce the action spy thriller Malko for Lionsgate.

The character and his adventures will be based on Gerard de Villiers’s powerhouse action-spy series S.A.S.

These books have sold more than 130 million copies globally.  Fassbender will play the lead role, a super-spy for hire Malko Linge.

What’s It All About?

Linge is an Austrian nobleman and freelance CIA operative who spent his years in a special Nazi camp for captured spies. He learned his tradecraft from the best that he encountered in this environment.

Now, as an adult, he’s a freelancer in the world of espionage. Quick witted, funny, charming and with expensive tastes, he is frequently placed in danger through his own urges for the high life.

The film will largely be based upon de Villiers’ book Checkpoint Charlie.

Oscar-nominated screenwriter Eric Warren Singer (American HustleTop Gun: Maverick) is working on the adaption.
