I’ll Do It Myself

Now that Avengers: Endgame is in the history books, Kevin Feige has a master plan for bringing more MCU integrated universe madness to the masses, following one step at a time, the way that he did over the course of ten years.

From the trades, from an interview Feige did at Brazilian Comic-Con Experience:

“The MCU is all interconnected, but we really focus on one movie at a time. We’re going to make the best Black Widow movie we can possibly make, the best Eternals movie we can make, the best Shang-Chi, the best Doctor Strange, Thor, Captain Marvel, Black Panther… And keep evolving their stories. Then, yes, it is always fun to see them come together in a master plan. Which is, I promise you well underway.”

What was that? The Eternals versus “Every Hero Leftover From Avengers” movie?

The Cast Has Come Together

The Eternals film is set to release in November of 2020 and is set to star Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, Barry Keoghan, Gemma Chan, and Kit Harington.

That’s quite a line-up.

From the trades, yet again:

Feige previewed the first footage from The Eternals at CCXP panel with Omelete, teasing that the cosmic comic book film is “going to change the MCU.” The “slightly ambitious” movie will span 7,000 years of human history — a history that is sure to cross over with the Avengers at some point, right?
“The Eternals know about the existence of the Avengers, the Avengers don’t know much about the Eternals. Yet,” Feige teased.

Well, with all that human history there will surely be some interesting stories to tell, and crossovers to be had, involving mutants and space-faring families as well.

What Are We To Make of All of This?

At this point, probably nothing. Feige has a history of saying one thing about where an MCU property is going on film and then going in a totally different direction.

There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

The other point to consider is that, with films such as Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange 2, Thor 4, Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2, and even the upcoming Black Widow, we might have to wait a while–possibly a decade at least–for The Eternals to get anywhere near whatever might be left of the Avengers.

Of course, they might always have time travel as a plot device to move the property forward.
