You Can’t Please (Kill) Everyone

Via the scrying glass that is The Hollywood ReporterActor and ever-vigilant guardian of her Khaleesiness, Iain Glen, warns that while he thinks the story for the final season of Game Of Thrones is “brilliant,” he also cautions that “you cannot please everyone.”

With that said, fans of the series are well aware that neither author George R. R. Martin, nor series show-runners (David Benioff and D.B. Weiss) have ever been shy in their willingness to see major characters whacked. Justice and any sense of “fair play” be damned. As for myself, my money is on the little guy.

Glen goes on to say that he’s not the only one satisfied with how things wrap up. From what the various actors claimed in interviews with The Hollywood Reporter, the cast is more than pleased with how things end. To quote Isaac Hempstead Wright (who plays Bran Stark) “As long as we can reconcile with ourselves that we’re happy with how it ends, it won’t matter what anyone else thinks, really. As long as we feel we’ve done the story justice, and have done justice to [author George R.R. Martin’s] universe and [show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’] vision, then that’s really all we can hope for. It won’t go the way some people want. It will be too happy for some people, or too sad, or too whatever. That’s the nature of an ending.”

True ‘dat.

Place your bets on who survives. The final season of Game of Thrones is set to release some time in 2019.
