Val Kilmer Is Back For Top Gun Sequel

Val Kilmer will reprise his character Tom “Iceman” Kasansky and join Tom Cruise in the long-awaited sequel to Tony Scott’s 1986 action blockbuster Top Gun, in which Cruise’s aviator Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is now a mentor to a new generation of U.S. Navy fighter pilots.

“You can be my wingman any time.”

The Paramount movie, which hits theatres next summer on July 12, 2019 and is currently in production in San Diego, follows fighter pilots who are entangled in a drone-driven airspace which has made their flying obsolete.

Recently Kilmer took to Twitter to show us that after years of obesity and a terrible battle with throat cancer, he’s “still got it”. You be the judge:

Joseph Kosinski, who worked with Cruise on Oblivion, directs. Bruckheimer and Cruise are producing alongside Skydance’s David Ellison. Original composer, 80’s synth legend, Harold Faltermeyer will be working on the soundtrack.
