Like it or not, we are still getting another Indiana Jones movie. Disney paid a lot of money for LucasFilm and they are going to squeeze it for as much blood as possible.

Kathleen Kennedy, despite rumors of possibly being on the outs with Disney, is still running LucasFilm. This past weekend at the BAFTAs she told the BBC that Indy 5 is still very much a real thing and that despite rumors to the contrary, it will not be a reboot.

“Harrison Ford will be involved, yeah. It’s not a reboot; it’s a continuation. He can’t wait. He absolutely is [up for it.]”

Considering his age, sitting and waiting around for the film to happen is something Ford doesn’t have the luxury to do.

Ford is 77 years old and when the last film came out twelve years ago, he already looked well past his prime in it. When you take into account the number of delays this movie has had, It’s not out of the question to wonder if the script will be finished before Ford’s heart stops ticking.

Also Kennedy from this weekend…

“We’re working away, getting the script where we want it to be and then we’ll be ready to go.”

Currently David Koepp, who is credited with writing the underwhelming Crystal Skull is working on the script.

Previously Jonathan Kasdan, son of Raiders of The Lost Ark writer Lawrence Kasdan, was attached as the writer.

Steven Spielberg is still attached to direct, though no word if Karen Allen will return as Indiana Jones’ now wife Marion Ravenwood.

Franchise creator George Lucas seems completely and officially uninvolved with the film.

Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled to be released July 9, 2021
