I know that the Emmys were last night, but like most people here I could not have cared less about it. In fact, the only reason I knew about it was that the Giants game ran over into the Emmys Red Carpet show.

Safe to say I did not watch any of it.

So when I woke up in the morning I was shocked to see that Game Of Thrones won Best Drama Series.

Seriously? What The Hell?

Look, I don’t have the crazy hate that all the fans of the show have for the past season.

I thought that “The Long Night” was a great episode.

Danny going crazy made for some great visuals.

But was it really the best show of the year? I don’t think so.

Maybe voters gave it best drama as a send-off, the same way the Academy gave Return of The King Best Picture even thought The Two Towers was far superior to it.

But the real reason I have an issue with this is that Thrones winning meant that Better Call Saul did not.

And I love Better Call Saul right now as much as I loved Thrones at its peak.

Did people just hate those Germans building the lab too much?

I know it has a much slower pace than most shows and I have read people saying they do not watch it because it feels like nothing is happening.

But this past season of the show is miles better than anything HBO put out with the exception of the Chernobyl‘s first episode.

What Do I Do Now?

It looks like next season is going to be the last for Better Call Saul, which is going to suck. Thrones and Saul were the only two shows I have been seriously dedicated to for the past few years.

Once that is gone I really do not know what I am going to obsess over.

Thinking about it, maybe Game of Thrones winning is not really a WTF moment, but more of the signal to the end of an era.

Maybe at some point in the future, the ending of Game of Thrones will be looked upon more fondly.

However, now is not that time.
