Weird About These Squad Leaks
They are all coming from this one website called Just Jared, which usually has articles titled “What’s Kanye West Doing In Jamaica?” and “Lady Gaga Confirms She’s Single Again!”
Obviously this is some kind of studio-controlled leak, yes?
In any case, we’ve got a first look at Idris Elba, John Cena, Daniela Melchior and Viola Davis, as well as whom they will be playing.
We all know that Viola Davis is playing Amanda Waller from the last movie.
For those who have been hiding under a rock or simply avoiding anything from 2016’s Suicide Squad, Waller is the US government Department of Defense bureaucrat who assembles and handles The Suicide Squad.
Vigilante
Idris Elba will be playing a character called Vigilante, who is a well-trained hand-to-hand combatant and a brilliant marksman very similar to Deadshot. There are at least six versions of Vigilante to show up in DC Comics, with the latest being a washed-up basketball player who puts on the mask after his social justice girlfriend gets murdered while she’s doing social justice stuff.
Sounds like a Colin Kaepernick-type superhero.
Peacemaker
John Cena is Peacemaker, who is also a series of heroes, the first originally owned by Charlton Comics and sold to DC. The Peacemaker is a pacifist diplomat so committed to peace that he was willing to use force as a superhero to advance the cause.
That is some real Talmudic logic right there.
This hero, who loves peace so much he’s willing to kill for it, uses an array of special non-lethal weapons that look an awful lot like guns and grenades.
The Ratcatcher
Daniela Melchior is being gender-swapped into The Ratcatcher, a career criminal with the innate ability to control an army of rats. The character also wields a gas gun and can manipulate various things with different kinds of gas.
Please keep your sexual innuendos appropriate.
The Suicide Squad and James Gunn will attack the good taste of movie-goers on August 6, 2021, using Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Waller), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag) along with a whole bunch of other actors playing a whole bunch of characters that you have never heard of.
