Greetings, Programs!

With the report that Mortal Engines may lose up to $125 million after it’s disastrous opening weekend, I had a closer look at this film.

Clearly, I do not fit the demo for this picture, but looking at the trailer for it, I wondered who would actually want to see it?

If you noticed that not once, but twice, they had to reference The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit:

Evil White Man, CHECK!
Female HERo, CHECK!
Ethnic Asskicker HERo, CHECK
Effeminate Male, CHECK
We just have to use our names and suckers will pay to see this drivel!

What could go wrong???

Meanwhile, another movie is being hailed as a fantastic success this weekend Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Of course, instead of praising the quality of the story or the animation, the only thing you see is how “Inclusive” it is.

Frankly, a $35 million weekend for a Spider-Man film in this day and age is not that great. Then you compare it to other openings this year: Ralph Wrecks The Internet ($56 million), Dr’ Seuss’ The Grinch ($67.5 million), Incredibles 2 ($182.6 million), not so good is it? Even Hotel Transylvania 3 made $44 million and it cost less than Spider-Man.

It has the lowest opening for any wide release animated film this year. So why is there so much praise being heaped on it?

Stop the identity pandering, it just might help your film. Or keep doing this and watch your studios crumble.
