So much hype was put into last night’s Academy Awards that many did not realize that this weekend the nominations for the awards that really count were announced, The Razzies.
Now celebrating its 40th anniversary, The Razzies are put together every year by The Golden Raspberry Foundation to “honor” the worst films and performances of the year.
Leading the pack with nine nominations is Cats. The Hellboy reboot was also a big nominee with 5. It’s director, Neil Marshall received worst director, but that is kind of unfair because the film was the victim of heavy studio interference.
John Travolta, Anne Hathaway, and Rebel Wilson all have the distinct privilege of receiving two nominations each in the acting categories. But Tyler Perry beat them all with three worst actor nominations, all for the same movie.
The biggest surprise perhaps no nominations for The Rise of Skywalker or Charlie’s Angels.
