Theme: Relive The 90s

October 4, 2019 to October 21, 2019

This column covers the re-releases coming to major theater chains over approximately the next two weeks.

If you have a specialty theater or a dine-in theater such as Alamo Drafthouse near you, check their calendars as they are almost always showing something cool.

These chains have different movies at each location so it’s impossible for us to keep up with them. Do some leg work and get out to see some movies!

Fathom Events

This is the largest distributor of re-releases and live broadcast in-theater events.

Even though they work closely with most of the big-time chains in the United States, not every chain will carry every event and not every theater in a given chain will carry a chain’s Fathom schedule.

Again, do some leg work!

QT8: The First Eight

I guess this settles the controversy over whether Deathproof counts as one of his movies.

As Tarantino’s newest film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood arrives to praise and controversy, filmmaker Tara Wood takes us on a journey through the first 8 wildly divergent films that Tarantino has helmed, narrated by the actors and collaborators who have worked with him.

From Reservoir Dogs through The Hateful Eight, from the video store to the fall of Harvey Weinstein, QT8 digs deep into the story of the most important and controversial filmmaker of our time.

The Climbers

Based on a true story from award-winning director Daniel Lee (Three Kingdoms, 14 Blades), featuring China’s biggest stars Wu Jing (Wolf Warrior 2) and Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Memoirs of a Geisha), and with a special guest appearance from superstar Jackie Chan. The Climbers is a cinematic retelling of the first Chinese climbers to summit Mount Everest — the first ever to do so from the North Ridge. Well-known as the most challenging side of the mountain, the perilous journey takes its toll on the mountaineers, physically and mentally, forcing them to make life or death decisions at every turn.

AMC also features many of the Fathom Events movies, so check your local theaters.
