Don Lee To Reprise Role From Original

South Korean production company BA Entertainment has reached an agreement with Sylvester Stallone’s company for a remake of upcoming Cannes Midnight Screenings title The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil.

The original The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil was directed by Lee Won-tae while being filmed last year in South Korea and starred Don Lee (The Last Train To Busan). It will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival before it opens nationwide in South Korean cinemas May 15, with other countries to follow.

Lee will reprise his role in the Hollywood adaptation, which will be produced by Stallone’s Balboa Productions.

Lee plays a gangster who, after surviving a vicious attack from a serial killer, forms an unlikely partnership with a cop (Lee Mu-yeol) to help track down his attempted murderer (Kim Seong-gyu).

Stallone is currently in the post-production process on Rambo 5: Last Blood after screening an early version of the sequel to the studio. He and his crew have taken the studio notes and are currently applying them to the final cut, which hits theaters this fall.

Sly has officially retired the Rocky Balboa character. Many are expecting him to do the same with John Rambo with the release of Last Blood. He’s also developing a period cop drama with History titled The Tenderloin.
