Filming Will Begin On Zombieland Sequel In January

Zombieland 2, after nearly a decade, is finally happening and it looks like production is getting underway in early 2019.

The horror/comedy sequel will begin filming on January 28, 2019. With all of the original cast members returning, it’s been tricky to synch their schedules, which is part of the reason the movie hasn’t happened already. But once Woody Harrelson wraps up filming on his WWII movie Midway, they’re good to go.

No word yet if Bill Murray will return

A brief plot synopsis has also been released, which suggests that Harrelson and co will face off against “Super-zombies”.

“The group will face a new zombie threat as a new breed of zombie has developed. This new super-zombie type is faster, bigger, and stronger than the previous strain of zombies and harder to kill. These super-zombies have started grouping up into a horde going from city to city leaving a path of destruction behind them.”

The zombie genre has risen from the dead since the release of Zombieland, with AMC’s The Walking Dead debuting the following year and becoming one of the biggest shows on TV, regularly breaking records with its viewership.

The film will shoot in Atlanta and Tennessee.

Harrelson, along with Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin are all due to return for the sequel, with original director Reuben Fleischer helming it. No word if we’ll get another Bill Murray cameo, though.
