AMC Turning Show Into An Anthology Series

The first season of The Terror was inspired by a true story about the Royal Navy’s perilous voyage in 1847 involving polar explorer ships HMS Erebus and HMS Terror, both of which went searching for the Northwest Passage and were never seen again. Isolated and stuck at the end of the earth, season one highlighted all that can go wrong when a group of men, desperate to survive, struggle not only with the elements but with each other.

This second season of The Terror will be set during World War II and centre on an intangible presence that menaces a Japanese-American community from its home in Southern California to the internment camps to the war in the Pacific.

David Kajganich, who nailed the acclaimed first season, won’t be back for Season 2. Instead, reports that Alexander Woo (True Blood) and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla) will be executive producing The Terror Season 2, with Woo serving as showrunner.

I’m all in for an anthology idea for The Terror, especially bringing in new showrunners each season. It lends the idea for some great limited series possibilities.

As soon as we hear more about The Terror season 2, we’ll let you know!
