And Maybe Even Quicker Than You Think

In my humble opinion, John Carpenter’s They Live is the best sci-fi B movie that has been made.

Written and directed by The Master of Horror, it has “Rowdy” Roddy Piper’s greatest performance, the best fight scene, real badass lines, and a plot that still holds firm today as it did when it originally hit theaters back in 1988.

Doing the rounds promoting Halloween, Carpenter has been saying some interesting stuff. During one interview, Carpenter had been asked regarding how he would approach They Live in today’s world. Carpenter said:

“Well, I’m not gonna tell you about that, because it might be closer to reality than you think.”

A sequel has been mooted before. In 2010 a solid pitch made the rounds. It’s likely this idea has evolved into They Live 2. John Carpenter had also confirmed that there’s a project being developed by Batman director Matt Reeves:

“There was a feature film. It was a feature film called Resistance, written by, oh, the guy who did the Apes movies. Matt Reeves. But then he moved on, and so the sequel is, well, we’ll see. We’ll just have to see.”

Carpenter has also teased a TV series based on his 1987 cult film Prince Of Darkness but keeping shtum on the details.

I’m totally down for this providing Carpenter is in control, what say you?
