Greetings from Sao Paulo, home of Brazil Comic Con 2019!
Normally Brazil Comic Con wouldn’t get much coverage, but this year Warner Brothers has decided to use it to kick off its promotion of Wonder Woman 1984, and thanks to Twitter fan account @WonderWoman84HQ, we have some stuff from it to show you.
Cheetah
The biggest thing to come from the event is that we get a first look at what the film’s villain, Cheetah, played by Kristen Wiig, looks like.
Yes, there was already a still image of her released by the studio a few months ago, but that was clearly Wiig’s character before she became Cheetah. The new image of her is more in costume and after her eventual transformation in the character.
Unfortunately, like most of these character leaks before an official image is released, it’s from a promotional item.
Normally it’s from a LEGO set. This time it’s from what looks like a cup.
It’s not quite on the level of Orson Welles’ reveal in The Third Man, but it gives you a pretty good idea of what they are doing with the character.
In the comic Cheetah looks like an actual cheetah. With the film version, they seem to be going for a more human approach and not diving into the furry culture look that some of the writers at this site are into.
Diana’s Armor
Not only are these flip-flops a must for anyone going to the beach, but it also gives us a better idea of what Diana’s Golden Eagle armor will look like.
The armor has already been partially shown before by the studio in promotional stills, but here we see that Wonder Woman will also sport a helmet.
Updated Costume
The costume doesn’t appear to change too much in 1984, but it does seem that the top of the outfit is a lot more reflective than before.
Remember the 80s?
Posters
We all like to complain about how bad the design and Photoshop work is with studio productions these days, but the artwork they put out for the film looks very professional and extremely well done.
I think most people here would not mind hanging some of this stuff on their walls.
Future Dollar Tree Merchandise
Most of the other things on display at the convention were general promotional items, but they give you a pretty good idea of the art style that is going to be used around the film.
And since it takes place in 1984, it’s of course very heavily 80s inspired.
Somebody finally put some effort into making the marketing stuff look good.
The top notebook would make a really nice tattoo.
And Maybe The Biggest News
It was announced at the convention that the first official trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 will debut online this weekend.
Don’t forget to check it out here when it hits the internet this Sunday.
