If you are the kind of person who wants to be wowed by the aesthetics of this movie when you watch it, don’t go any further. You have been warned!

I was clicking around “I love the 80s” groups looking for local single moms when I found these photos that show us all the characters from The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance and who will be playing them.

It’s god-damn impressive. It just keeps going and going:

Alicia Vikander is more watchable as Mira
Andy Samberg is The Heretic
Toby Jones plays The Librarian
Theo James as Rek’yr
Taron Egerton is Ruin… err… Rian
Nathalie Emmanuel is Deet
Natalie Dormer plays Onica
Lena Headley completes the trifecta with Onica
Helen Bonham Carter becomes All-Amudra
Harris Dickerson plays Gurjin
Hannah John-Kamen is Naia
Eddie Izzard performs Cadia
Donna Kimnall as Aughra
Dave Goelz is Daffi
Catriona Balfe plays Tavra
Anya Taylor Joy is actually a Brea
Simon Pegg collects money for The Chamberlain
Shazad Latif as Kylan
Ralph Ineson plays The Hunter
Olafur Darri Olafsson is The Archer
Mark goes Strong as Ordon
Mark Hamill will teach us about global warming as The Scientist
Keegan Michael Key is The Ritual Master
Jason Isaacs gives us The Emperor
Harvey Fierstein is flamboyant as The Gourmand
Gugu Mbatha Raw is Celadon
Benedict Wong makes magic as The Wizard Finder General
Awkwafina is as amazed as anyone to be The Collector

That is some high-dollar stock right there, son! Netflix has put serious money into not just the tech and craftsmanship but the talent as well. They gave producer Louis Leterrier a massive amount to work with here, so there is a great chance he can bring this one home.

What Else Do We Know?

As far as the story, the official synopsis is sparse:

In this prequel to the fantasy classic, three young Gelfling inspire a rebellion against the cruel Emperor when they discover a horrifying secret.

Some other details I found online sound true but are not confirmed:

Along with Rian and Deet, Brea is one of the three Gelflings who discover the secret behind the sickness spreading across their land. From there, an adventure unfolds and the fire of rebellion is lit.

The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance will be summoned to Netflix on August 30, 2019. There will be ten episodes and the series will explore the world of Thra created for the original film.
