Falcon and Winter Soldier Reveals

The upcoming Falcon and Winter Soldier and WandaVision shows had a first look picture and footage reveal at this weekend’s Brazil Comic-Con Experience, the same place where the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984 trailer was dropped to much fanfare.

Yes. On this one, you might have to.

Falcon and Winter Soldier haven’t generated much buzz among fans, but the Master, Kevin Feige was down in Brazil trying to get the fans excited.

From the trades:

Down at Comic-Con Experience 2019 (CCXP) in Brazil, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige was on-hand to get fans excited about the upcoming projects in Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For the first time ever, the new roster of projects include streaming shows from Marvel Studios that directly tie into the events of the movies, and the CCXP panel gave a glimpse at the first official photos from both Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision.

And here are the stills:

From the trades, yet again:

While there’s not much more information about what the plot would entail, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has confirmed that it will follow from Avengers: Endgame and see Falcon donning Captain America’s shield.

WandaVision Reveal

The other show whose stills dropped was WandaVision. Again, not much in the fan zeitgeist around this property either, but Feige did his best to whip the crowd into a frenzy of excitement.

Kevinn Feige at Thor: Ragnarok premiere
Yes. I’ll do it all myself.

From the trades:

The series has been described as a “mash-up between American sitcoms throughout the decades and Marvel film with these characters” by co-star Elizabeth Olsen… and the first photo above shows that even more, complete with a black and white aesthetic reminiscent of classic 1950s sitcoms.

Feige has also confirmed that the series will have a significant impact on the “entire future Phase 4 of the MCU” and follows from Endgame, so it remains a mystery how Vision — who was killed in Infinity War — will play into the show.

And here are the stills:

What Are We To Make of All of This?

The direction that both of these properties are taking as Disney+ shows is perplexing if you are a thinking individual and not a slobbering fan who wants to be delighted at every turn by the MCU and Disney.

The future of the Marvel Universe.

Based on these images alone—markedly, only available via Twitter and not really anywhere else this weekend—makes me wonder how exactly Feige and company plan to generate hype around these two shows.
