There have been a number of rumors over the past few months about a Star Wars thing called Project Luminous.

Well, after much speculation, Disney and Lucasfilm have finally revealed a trailer for it.

Now called The High Republic, it’s a multimedia project set 200 years before the events of the prequels and is going to be the launching point for Star Wars going forward.

The team of writers Lucasfilm put behind it has been given a blank slate to create new characters and stories to flesh out the Star Wars universe that was ignored when the old expanded universe was made obsolete.

The starting point will be something called The Great Disaster and feature something that even the Jedi themselves are scared of.

Is that something the reviews for The Rise of Skywalker? The fan reactions to The Last Jedi? Or maybe rumors that Kathleen Kennedy maybe return when her contract is up? We’ll just have to wait and see.

At four minutes it doesn’t really tell you much, though it does share quite a bit of concept art for things you know absolutely nothing about.

The biggest takeaway is probably how when they show the writers working, they are completely focused on the 3 or 4 minority writers and trying to make it look like a diverse group even though the room is probably around 80% white.

The magic of editing.

Also instead of having the crazy Kath-Lady and head of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy in the video, they instead rolled out some suits no one really ever heard of.

Interesting.

Star Wars: The High Republic tries to make you forget about the sequel trilogy when the first series of books hits this August.
