In March, Amazon Prime is going to drop a TV series based on the 2011 movie, Hanna.
In case you don’t remember Hanna, it told the story of a young teenage girl being pursued across Europe by a nefarious intelligence agency. The twist is that the young lady being chased was trained from birth to be a perfect assassin. Violence and death ensue.
David Farr, one of the original screenwriters from that film, is scripting and running the show. Besides the movie version of Hanna, Farr has a been involved in some pretty mediocre TV stuff like BBC’s weird Troy: Fall Of A City and The Night Manager.
This time they are swapping out the sixteen-year-old, exotic-looking Saoirse Ronan for the more conventionally-beautiful Esme Creed-Miles, who is eighteen.
What is more interesting to me is that this show is reuniting the two leads for the AMC hit The Killing, a show that I enjoyed with my platonic viewing partner a few years ago.
Joel Kinnaman — Mr. Heroin, as she called him — will play Hanna’s father and Mireille Enos — The Sweater Lady — will play the intelligence operative chasing Hanna down.
Here is the teaser, which seems to introduce some kind of “super soldier” thread:
