Tired of all the Star Wars news going around the last few days?

In need of something a bit more on the quirky side to lift you from the blockbuster blues?

Well then the trailer for the indie comedy Buffaloed is just what you’re looking for.

Buffalo is the debt collection capital of America, though Peg Dahl never saw herself in that world. She’s bet on her sharp mind—and even sharper mouth—to get her out of town and into an Ivy League university.

But when an acceptance letter to the school of her dreams arrives, she quickly realizes the cruel impossibility of paying tuition. A chance phone call changes everything and leads her into the lucrative yet complex and shady business of delinquent debt collection. She’s a natural and soon running her own shop, but at what cost?

Directed by Tanya Wexler, the film stars Zoey Deutch, who happens to be the daughter of Back To The Future and Howard The Duck star Lea Thompson.

It debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival last April and made enough of an impression that Magnolia Pictures decided to pick up distribution rights to it soon after.

Buffaloed is definitely an interesting take on the whole student debt/loan issue facing the country these days. It has kind of a Breaking Bad way of problem-solving which seems to work pretty well here.

Buffaloed arrives in cinemas on February 14.
