A Forbidden Affair

Bleecker Street Films have released the first official trailer for the Jewish lesbian drama film titled Disobedience. The film is director Sebastián Lelio´s English language debut. He previously directed the Oscar-nominated film A Fantastic Woman.

The screenplay was co-written by Sebastián Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, adapted from Naomi Alderman’s novel of the same name. Disobedience premiered at this years Toronto Film Festival, and it will get a limited release in cinemas April 27th.

The Players

Disobedience stars Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams as lovers. SOLD. Weisz plays Ronit , an Orthodox Jew who comes home to London and meets up with her childhood friend and rediscovers her feelings for her. Supporting cast includes Alessandro Nivola, Anton Lesser, Nicholas Woodeson, Cara Horgan, and Allan Corduner.

Much Ado About Sex

Disobedience apparently had quite an impact on the 2017 Toronto Film Festival with a six-minute sex scene between Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz. And If that sort of thing peaks your interest then check it out when it opens on April 27th.
