What exactly are they trying to tell us with that song choice? I don’t get it.

Oh… are they saying that Godzilla has always been king and this is not a comeback?

I think I get it!

Well, if they don’t get these budgets down Godzilla is only going to be king of the SyFy Channel because that is where he is going to be relegated.

  • Godzilla (2014): $529 million worldwide on a budget of $160 million
  • Kong: Skull Island: $566 million on a budget of $185 million

For a new shared universe, these movies are barely making any profit.

Maybe introducing new monsters will add to King Of Monsters box office take but with the increased budget, it’s going to have to clear $600+ million to break even.

Apparently, the big four are not the only creatures in the movie — I’ve heard they introduce sixteen new ones — so that could give it a lot more legs as word of mouth spreads about the zoo of kaiju that Universal is unleashing on the big screen.

For all your Marvel fans, kaiju means “big monster” in Japanese.

[ Editor’s Note: kaiju means “strange beast” ]
