The Other Charles Manson Family Movie

In August 1969, Valley Of The Dolls actress Sharon Tate, at home along with four of her guests, were all murdered by members of Charles Manson’s Family. Tate was almost 9 months pregnant at the time.

The Haunting Of Sharon Tate is currently in post-production and arrives on the 50th anniversary of the murders, with Hilary Duff starring as the ill-fated actress.

In the trailer for the horror movie, Tate is depicted as having visions of her impending death. The film (which says it is “inspired by a true story”) suggests that the Manson family has supernatural connections.

Tate’s sister, Debra Tate, criticised the film for falsely depicting the events prior to the murders:

“I know for a fact she did not have a premonition — awake or in a dream — that she and Jay [Sebring, her hairstylist] would have their throat cut. I checked with all of her living friends. None of her friends had any knowledge of this. Tacky, tacky, tacky.”

It’s a horror movie, so that makes it fair game, right?

The Haunting Of Sharon Tate isn’t the only Manson movie due to be released this year. In Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming movie, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, will feature Margot Robbie as the ill-fated Tate.

The Haunting Of Sharon Tate has yet to be given a release date.
