I guess Chris Pine needed something to do between killing off the Kelvin Timeline and giving us an unnecessary Scottish rebellion offering.

Has this guy ever carried a movie?

No.

Luckily for him, it’s on TV so there are virtually zero stakes. I didn’t even know TNT was still on the air. The official synopsis:

Inspired by true events, “I Am the Night” tells the gripping story of Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), a teenage girl who is given away at birth, and grows up outside of Reno, Nevada. Fauna lives more-or-less comfortably with the mysteries of her origin, until one day she makes a discovery that leads her to question everything.

As Fauna begins to investigate the secrets of her past, she meets a ruined reporter (Chris Pine), haunted by the case that undid him.

Together they follow a sinister trail that swirls ever closer to an infamous Los Angeles gynecologist, Dr. George Hodel (Jefferson Mays), a man involved in some of Hollywood’s darkest debauchery, and possibly, its most infamous unsolved crime.

This has a strong True DetectiveL.A. Confidential vibe, with obvious allusions to — or rather direct references to — Black Dahlia.

I don’t know. Maybe it could be good. Patty Jenkins is a decent director and Carl Franklin is directing one of the episodes.

Hmmm… is this free gift the reason why WW1984 got delayed? You would think WB wouldn’t let Jenkins do anything but Wonder Woman.

Right now she is the entire DCEU. And she got beat by Venom.

But still, this involves an “infamous Los Angeles gynecologist”.

I think I made a mistake in my career path.
