Three Generations Of Shaft To Forget About

New Line Cinema has dropped a trailer for the next chapter in its Shaft franchise.

In 2000’s Shaft we were introduced to a re-imagining of Blaxploitation classic Shaft, which featured back in the 70s and made a star out of its lead cat, Richard Roundtree.

So if the 2000 movie was unnecessary, clearly this one is a cash grab for the stars involved. I’d wager Jackson is only attached as he helps some brothers out financially. It certainly isn’t for the art. This looks utter garbage, much like its predecessor before it.

Still, don’t believe me? Check out this turkey:

The movie follows Baby Shaft, an MIT graduate in cybersecurity and now working for the FBI, but when his friend is murdered, he turns to his old man, Daddy Shaft. The relationship between Baby and Daddy Shaft is strained, Daddy Shaft was out chasing crooks and tail when the youngling was growing up, but this doesn’t stop Daddy helping Baby. And of course, there’s some aging Granddaddy Shaft thrown into the mix.

Jessie T. Usher plays Baby Shaft, Jackson is Daddy Shaft and Roundtree is Granddaddy O.G. Shaft.

The movie also stars Titus Welliver (LOST), Cliff “Method Man” Smith (The Wire) and Regina Hall (Scary Movie).

Shaft is set for release on June 14.
