Special forces, Delta, black ops: all content-rich environments bursting with larger-than-life characters, incredible feats of bravery, real-world stakes and a pontoon-boat full of action.

So why can’t anyone besides David Mamet or Kathryn Bigelow make a good movie about this world?

Beats me, but here comes Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg are back together again for the fourth time (after Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon and Patriots’ Day) to prove me right.

This poster is maximum fucking edge, kid

In Mile 22, a CIA field agent (Walberg) and an Indonesian police officer (Iko Uwais) are forced to collaborate (and blow shit up) together as they transport the local cop from the city center of Jakarta(?) to the airport which is 22 miles away. Of course, several men will be intent on preventing them. We assume they will be very unpleasant. And very well-armed, indeed.

Ronda Rousey and Maggie from The Walking Dead will join the guys on this exec protection mission.

Iko Uwais is getting his first big-time Hollywood exposure after starring in, and choreographing, both The Raid movies and before he enters the Star Wars universe in Episode IX.

It’s not my thing but I can see why people love these movies

Peter Berg, who continues to direct well-made, extremely-average, mid-budget movies, seems to be the definition of insanity. I think the best thing he’s done in his career is point to Iran on a map in Lions For Lambs.

“Ain’t nobody talkin’ when I’m talkin’ so shut the fuck up!”

Wake me up when it’s over. Meanwhile, enjoy this awesome RR poster:

Mile 22 trips and shoots itself in the leg on August 3rd, 2018.
