Trailer Released Following Legal Dispute

Following a settled legal dispute between Mel Gibson’s Icon Productions and production company Voltage Pictures, a trailer has been released for The Professor And The Madman.

The film, based on the book The Surgeon Of Crowthorne, sees Gibson as Professor James Murray, who collaborated with an asylum inmate William Minor (Sean Penn) to compile the Oxford English Dictionary.

Here’s the trailer:

Also featuring are Natalie Dormer (Game Of Thrones), Ioan Gruffudd (Forever), Jeremy Irvine (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again), Steve Coogan (Tropic Thunder), Laurence Fox (Lewis) and Jennifer Ehle (The Miseducation Of Cameron Post).

What About That Legal Dispute?

In 2017 the production stalled as Gibson clashed with Voltage Pictures CEO Nicolas Chartier over various issues such as work itineraries, budgets, expenses, and shooting locations.

Gibson reportedly walked off the set.

Gibson’s production company Icon, filed against Voltage to stop the movie from being distributed, but a Judge dismissed the case. Gibson has since said he will not actively be involved in promoting the film.

The Professor And The Madman will be released later this year.
