The long gestating monster shark movie, The Meg, based on the first installment of Steven Alten’s bestselling series of books is nearly with us.

Say Ahhhhhh…..

After a US and International teaser earlier this year, the Asian markets are now getting in on the act with their own marketing efforts.  The movie features Chinese talent and was funded with Chinese money.  As a result the central setting of the bitey carnage has been shifted from the US West Coast of the book to the Chinese coast.

The guys at JoBlo have snagged a look at the just released Chinese trailer.

This trailer shows more mini-sub vs shark action and highlights Statham’s gruff take on the lead character of Jonas Taylor.

Here and here is what Film Goblin and our goblin contributors had to say about the previous teasers.

So what do you guys think?  Heir to Jaws?  About as good/bad as Deep Blue Sea?  Or Sharnado XXXXL?

The Meg is directed by Jon Turtletaub and hits cinemas August 10th, just in time for your beach holiday.
