The last time I popped in to talk about an Incredibles 2 trailer I was highly underwhelmed.

There is an overload of live-action superhero movies hitting theaters this year so who really has time for an animated one?

Plus it explored the complete fresh concept of the wife returning to work and leaving father home with the children. It’s not Mr. Mom, it’s now Mr. SuperMom. The 1980s called, they want their movie trope back.

Here is the official synopsis from Pixar:

In Incredibles 2, Helen is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet, Dash and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone  by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.

It all sounds pretty pedestrian but with these two new trailers one can see a dynamic visual flair that is simply impossible to pull off in live action. At least until Avatar 2 hits in 2020. Check them out:

It kind of looks good, doesn’t it? You know, “fun”; you’ve seen other people have it? Maybe something to take the kids to.

Incredibles 2 piles into the minivan and shleps to theaters on June 15, 2018.
