To help wet your whistle for the release of The Witcher next week, Netflix has uploaded videos introducing the three main characters of the highly anticipated fantasy series.

The biggest takeaway from the videos is that, wow, visually everything looks stunning and Netflix put a lot of money into this. I did not really pay much attention to the show, but it now has me interested.

Hopefully, when Amazon finally unleashes their version of Lord Of The Rings it will be on this level.

Geralt of Rivia

First up is the show’s main character Geralt, played by the man who may or may not still be the Man of Steel, Henry Cavill.

In addition to introducing the character, it also does a nice set up of the entire series in general, explaining how the universe the show takes place in functions for people coming in cold to the series.

Cavill never got a fair shot to show how effective he could be in the DCEU. It would be nice to see The Witcher become a hit for him.

Yennefer of Vengerberg

Yennefer is portrayed on the show by British actress Anya Chalotra.

Here we see how the show will deal with her journey from deformed child to a powerful (and sexy) practitioner of magic.

Princess Cirilla

Played by Freya Allan, Cirilla is a princess whose world is turned upside down by war and must find a new place in it.

Speaking of Cirilla

These videos are released on the heels of the news that even though the show is called The Witcher and based on a series of successful books and video games which follow that character, when developing the show executive producer Lauren Hissrich originally tried to make Cirilla the main character.

Her reasoning for wanting to do it was because she did not want the two main female characters to be introduced and developed through a male’s point of view.

You see where this is going.

Fortunately logic prevailed and character of The Witcher will remain front and center of the series, at least for the most part.

Though the show is not told through their points of view, Yennefer and Cirilla will be main characters and be as important to the show as The Witcher himself.

The Witcher starts streaming on Netflix December 20.
