When you use the word “vice” as the title for a movie about Dick Cheney it leaves little room for interpretation about your approach to the subject.

Vice

noun

  1. immoral or wicked behavior.
    synonyms: immorality, wrongdoing, wickedness, badness, evil, iniquity, villainy, corruption, misconduct, misdeeds;
  2. criminal activities involving prostitution, pornography, or drugs.
    synonyms: immorality, wrongdoing, wickedness, badness, evil, iniquity, villainy, corruption, misconduct, misdeeds;
  3. an immoral or wicked personal characteristic.
    plural noun: vices

Very subtle.

I have another word for you:

Narrative

noun

  1. a spoken or written account of connected events; a story.
    synonyms: account, chronicle, history, description, record, report, story

“A story”.

These one-dimensional caricatures are the product of their political enemies and part of a simple paradigm that the Democrat-aligned media and pop culture have been creating and reinforcing since I’ve been alive:

  • Republican Presidents are all bumbling, war-mongering fools who got there by manipulating stupid rubes’ darker natures and are controlled by some nefarious Rasputin
  • Democrat Presidents are always the most intelligent, most brilliant, smartest-guy-in-the-room, pacifist types who got there by appealing to reason and light

What are the chances that this has always been the case since 1976? Or is it possible they are just taking singular characteristics and amplifying them through endless repetition?

Now, no one is claiming that President Bush is some “This Is Library” nerd playing with his protractor but let’s be serious here for a second:

  • Yale graduate average IQ 121 in 1970s
  • Harvard MBA average IQ 125 in 1970s
  • Flew jet fighters average IQ 124

And all you have to know about Dick Cheney’s character is that he didn’t want to go to Baghdad in 1991 when it was open for the taking. What a power-mad warmonger.

So watch this trailer, give the movie a try. Bale is always great as is Rockwell. And McKay’s The Big Short is one of the reasons — along with The Revenant, Hateful Eight, Room and Fury Road — that 2015 is the last year that movies were great.

Just be aware that it’s propaganda.
