Remember This Chris Rock?

He was once upon a time almost a movie star.

In 2002, he was even opposite Tony Hopkins in the actioner Bad Company.

It made $65 million on a budget of $70 million and just like that Rock was done.

Now He’s Back With Saw

Or rather a sequel or prequel to that torture porn series:

A sadistic mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of Saw. Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran, brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks and his rookie partner take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.

I Don’t Like It, I Don’t Buy It

I don’t like this torture porn shit.

At the behest of a particularly sick and twisted viewing partner, I’ve seen a couple of the Hostel movies and I fail to see the point of the genre.

Is it supposed to be just a series of “isn’t that fucked up” moments?

Then again, I prefer my horror to be more… well, I don’t like horror at all because no one seems to be able to make any good horror in the last 20 years, with the possible exception of I Saw The Devil and HBO’s new mini-series, The Outsider.

I also don’t buy Chris Rock as a detective.

He’s almost worse than Madea playing Alex Cross.

Morgan Freeman… and then this guy?

Spiral will make teenagers jump in their seats on May 15, 2020.
