There’s not much that irritates me more than poor or heavy-handed trickery and the trailer for The Courier does that exact thing. It draws us in with Gary Oldman and swerves us with yet another Mary Sue in the form of Olga Kurylenko

Written and produced by Zackary Adler (Rise of the Footsoldier 3, American Romance), The Courier features Gary Oldman and Olga Kurylenko in a typical “I want that, you can’t have it” action tale.

Set against a gritty London backdrop, a tough motorbike courier whose work is interrupted when she discovers that one of the packages she’s transporting is a bomb. It transpires that the gas bomb she carries is set to kill Nick Murch, the only witness able to testify in Washington DC against ruthless crime lord Ezekiel Manning.

As the British Police and FBI scramble to try and deal with the mess, the mysteriously well-trailed and equipped courier teams up with unlikely partner Nick to evade Manning’s heavily armed goons and make sure that justice is delivered.

While his Dan Crenshaw-inspired character is arrested, in a church of all places,  I thought Oldham was going the Liam Neeson/Jackie Chan route as an aged action guy on a quest.

I dunno, you tell me…

But no, Oldman’s Ezekiel Mannings will be the big bad to Olga Kurylenko’s witness protectin’ woman of mystery only known as “The Courier.”

Yes, that is the character’s name.

Intelligent! Intense! All in a model-sized package!

Also starring Dermot Mulroney as old FBI guy who never leaves the office, and Alicia Agenson as Olman’s main enforcer, Simmonds.

We’ll have to wait until November 22, 2019 to find out if our model-sized heroine courier can dismantle this criminal empire, one package at a time.
