“Rayner Can’t Go Into Politics, She’s Got More Shit On Her Than Elton John’s Cock!”
Amazon Prime’s new show based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis, The Boys is almost here, so the streaming giant has dropped this final trailer.
Here it is:
The official synopsis reads:
“The Boys takes place in ‘a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame’ and ‘revolves around a group of vigilantes known informally as ‘The Boys,’ who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.'”
There are still not many details on The Boys plot, but this final trailer does reveal some key information. Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) has his first bad experience with the “Supes” when his girlfriend is killed by A-Train (Jessie T. Usher Jr.), who was chasing after another superhero at the time. From there, Hughie is driven by this to join Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and the rest of the squad to fight “The Seven,” who are selfish Super assholes who are all about themselves.
So far, from this trailer anyway, it’s looking true to the books. Whether it maintains this continuity, who knows?
The Boys is executive produced by Seth Rogen and Eric Kripke. It stars Urban and Quaid in the lead roles of leader Billy Butcher and new recruit Hughie Campbell respectively. Also in the ensemble cast are Jennifer Esposito, Elisabeth Shue, Karen Fukuhara, Anthony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Usher Jr., Chance Crawford, Laz Alonso, Tomer Kapon, Nathan Mitchell, and Erin Moriarty.
The Boys will premiere on Amazon Prime Video tomorrow, Friday July 26.
