You Remember The Seditious RTB, Right?

The Scottish nobleman who betrayed William Wallace in Braveheart (4.5/5) only to take the reigns of leadership and mount yet another rebellion against English rule as the movie fades to black.

At least that’s the way I remember it. Let see if I’m correct together:

Yeah, that’s what happened — warrior poets and all.

I was right again.

Now, for some reason, and a mere two years after Chris Pine played Robert The Bruce in the Netflix (faithless & accursed) teleplay The Outlaw King, Angus McFadden is reprising his role as the title character in this decidedly low budget affair.

From the summary:

King Robert the Bruce is injured and on the run from the English army. On the brink of defeat, a widow and her family nurse him back to health and join The Bruce as he sets out to claim the long-awaited freedom of Scotland.

I’m fine with low budget movies, some of my favorite movies are were made for nothing, but if you’re going to do this movie about that guy you’re going to need some stellar performances backed by incredible writing.

Decide for yourself whether either are present:

I hate to piss on something that is historically-based, anti-diverse and plays out like a Dungeons & Dragons one-shot but there’s no lead in my pencil for this.

Maybe we’ll get some clips or another trailer. The posters look great.

Robert The Bruce will get a one-night Fathom Event on April 16th, 2020, then it goes to the usual places.
