From director Kim Kwang-sik, and distributed by Next Entertainment World, The Great Battle is a historical movie depicting the defence of Ansi Fortress by Korean troops in 645AD.

In April 645AD Ansi Fortress was besieged by the Chinese General Li Shiji and 500,000 men, and held out for three months before the Chinese retreated.

Well made historical movies are always interesting to watch, and director Kim made great efforts to keep an authentic feel to the movie. Among the props built for this movie was a replica of Ansi Fortress 11 meters high and 180 meters long.

That said, he incorporates elements of fantasy into the movie, and that may not be to everyone’s taste. That said, for those who enjoy historical warfare, and those who enjoy Asian action movies, I think this will provide a great way to spend a couple of hours.

The Great Battle will be released in South Korea on September 19, 2018, and in the United States from September 21st.
