Regretfully, I can’t say that I’ve ever found Will Ferrell to be particularly funny, so the news that his latest movie Downhill will soon be in theaters, what is described as a “biting comedy”, did not fill me with great anticipation.

Barely escaping an avalanche during a family ski vacation in the Alps, a married couple is thrown into disarray as they are forced to reevaluate their lives and how they feel about each other. Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell star in this biting comedy.

And my expectations were not subverted.

Watching Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus lecture another character about “snow going everywhere” is about as funny as having teeth extracted without anesthetic.

One’s own teeth.

Watching someone else have their teeth extracted without anesthetic could be funny, depending on how sadistic a person is.

Certainly nobody, however sadistic, could find Downhill anything other than tedious in the extreme.

That’s a hard pass from me.

Downhill will be in theaters from February 14 if anyone cares, which they really shouldn’t.

There are better ways to ruin Valentine’s Day.
