Movie Is Described As A Family Tragicomedy

Bong Joon Ho, director of the internationally acclaimed film The Host, has released the trailer for his newest film, Parasite.

The film stars Song Kang Ho, best known to western audiences for his roles in Bong Joon Ho’s films Okja and Snowpiercer. The award-winning actor is a household name in Korea, where he has appeared in dozens of Korean films, including The Throne, The Age Of Shadows, Last Train To Busan, and The Attorney.

In Parasite he plays Kim Ki Taek, the patriarch of the unemployed family, whose few resources are quickly evaporating. Jang Hye Jin plays his fed-up wife, with Park So Dam and Choi Woo Sik playing his children. Desperate for cash, Choi Woo Sik’s character comes up with a plan to forge some educational qualifications so he can get a well-paying job as a tutor in a well-to-do family. He gets the job and is welcomed into the other family’s home, but things don’t quite turn out the way he imagined.

The trailer is a little grainy and I was in two minds about posting it, but Bong Joon-ho gets a pass, his movies are generally great and I’ll be checking this out for sure.

Stay tuned for more info. First impressions are good though, what do you think?
