It’s CGI War Porn!

Independence Day director Roland Emmerich’s new film, Midway tells the heroic, balls-out story of the Battle of Midway, between the US fleet and the Japanese Imperial Navy in 1942. The battle was an important turning point for the Yanks in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

The Battle of Midway lasted from June 4th until June 7th and saw the first US victory of the War In The Pacific since the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The movie will chronicle the heroic stories of those who fought to overcome the odds.

Here’s the trailer:

Emmerich told Military.com:

“The first time I had the idea to do Midway, it was really like 20 years ago. I had a deal at Sony, but the movie didn’t come together because the studio was owned by Japanese, so they were not very inclined to do a movie where they felt like the big losers of a battle.”

The movie’s synopsis:

“US soldiers and pilots change the course of World War II during the Battle of Midway in June 1942. The US and Imperial Japanese naval forces fought for four days.”

Many of the characters are based on real men who fought in the battle and portraying some of them are, Nick Jonas, Luke Evans, Woody Harrelson, Dennis Quaid, and Aaron Eckhart.

Midway will be released on November 8th.
